What will I be doing?
- Sharing stories of USPG’s work around the world with churches and other groups in Britain and Ireland through speaking or preaching.
- Speak to groups and individuals about the impact that their support makes, and the lives that are changed as a result.
- Proactively source your own speaking engagements through your local networks. This will be covered in the training.
- Share stories which enable people to learn from the world church, and which provoke thought and discussion around the gospel, discipleship and mission.
- Encourage groups and individuals to support USPG and our work, through financial giving, prayer, and/or volunteering.
What skills and qualities do I need?
- Enthusiasm for USPG and our work – a passion for mission, for the world church and for sharing the gospel’s transformative message of hope.
- Some confidence in public speaking is important, but training and support will be provided, so you do not need to be an experienced speaker already – just keen to learn.
- A commitment to preparing well for speaking engagements, including keeping up-to-date with our work and campaigns, and liaising with the church or group to be visited.
- Ability to travel and access to transport.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to represent USPG in a professional manner.
What commitment is required?
- This role is flexible; the days and times of the week for volunteer activity vary, and can fit in around your other commitments.
- Attend an induction and training day, either in our office in London, at our annual conference or somewhere local to where you live.
