In what ways can the global church learn from churches in countries that have previously had pandemics to contend with when trying to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic? This was the theme of USPG's fifth Partners in Global Mission webinar, which took place on 8 October 2020. The Rev’d Canon Professor Gideon Byamugisha (the first religious leader in Africa to declare himself HIV positive) and the Rt Rev’d Erick Ruwona, Bishop of Manicaland, shared their experiences of responding to HIV/Aids in Uganda and Zimbabwe respectively. The Rt Rev’d Thomas Wilson, Bishop of Freetown, gave an account of Sierra Leone’s experience combatting the Ebola epidemic of 2014.
