The Rev’d Dr Peniel Rajkumar, USPG’s Global Theologian, was installed as an Honorary Canon of Worcester Cathedral on Sunday 12 March. Honorary Canons are people whom a Bishop wishes to recognise for their contribution to the work of the Church. They are seen as members of the cathedral community and act as a link between the cathedral and the wider Church.

Peniel says, ‘Worcester Cathedral has a tradition of appointing one person from outside the diocese as Honorary Canon and I am delighted and grateful that the Rt Rev’d John Inge, Bishop of Worcester, chose me on this occasion. I see this as an affirmation of USPG's work with the wider Anglican Communion that I'm honoured to be a part of. This invitation to be an ambassador of Worcester cathedral is also an opportunity for me to connect my own ecumenical and interreligious experience with the life and ministry of Worcester Cathedral as it continues to bear witness to Christ with imagination and commitment in a rapidly changing world.’

In addition to his canonry at Worcester Cathedral, Peniel will also have the privilege of being installed as a Canon of York Minster later in the year.
